These are the logos for Madrid-Serrano Rotaract Service Club and the Istanbul
Altunizade Rotaract Service Club. The main force behind our trip to Turkey was
to meet each other and plan for future international service projects!
This year the Madrid Serrano Club put me in charge of International Service,
so I had the honor of working with the Altunizade Club to make the trip happen.
Of all the members who could have gone from our club, it ended up being me and 7 GIRLS!
We were very excited to fly Turkish Airlines to Istanbul.
And they gave us Turkish Newspapers!
Once we got in, there were Turkish Flags everywhere.
It just so happened that we came on their National Youth Day.
Upon leaving the terminals, we were greeted by a warm welcome. Their whole club was there!
This is Yeşim holding a lovely "Bienvenido Cerrano Rotaract Club" sign they made.
This is Özlem, she's the President of the the club this year.
We worked together for 5 MONTHS planning this trip!
This is Mehmet and Ali. Mehmet holds the same "International Service" chair and
we worked together as well. Ali speaks great Spanish.
This is Can and his girlfriend, Filiz. They had a 5 page paper due the next
morning that and they still came to greet us the first night!
Right from the airport we were wisked off in a special bus into downtown Istanbul.
The first thing they gave us were the famous sweets, Turkish Delights.
Here's a better picture.
Fortuantely, everyone knew English, so we had no problem getting to know each other.
